UPDATE: Midlothian Turnpike Reopens After Overnight Accident

CHESTERFIELD,Va - We are getting word from Chesterfield Police that as of 12:15pm Midlothian Turnpike has now been re-opened from the earlier vehicle crash.


CHESTERFIELD, Va - Midlothian Turnpike is closed at Coalfield Rd because of downed power lines. Traffic is being rerouted onto Sycamore Square Dr.

Police are telling us a car slammed into a power pole just before 1am bringing it down. The driver was not seriously hurt, and police say alcohol was a factor in the accident.

The road is expected to be closed for several hours.

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VADue to a vehicle crash at approximately 12:48 am on Saturday morning, the intersection at Midlothian Turnpike and Coalfield Road will be closed for a short period of time.  VA Power officials have estimated that all repairs should be cleared by 12:00 noon on Saturday.

Motorists who are traveling westbound on Midlothian Turnpike from Route 288 or Powhatan County will be directed to turn right on Charter Colony, left on Woolridge Road, and then back to Midlothian Turnpike.  Motorists who are traveling eastbound on Midlothian Turnpike will be directed to turn right on Crowder Rd, left on Westgate Road, then back to Midlothian Turnpike via Sycamore Road or Winterfield Road.

Coalfied Road will be closed completely as motorists approach Midlothian Turnpike.

Access to the shopping centers close to the intersection of Midlothian Turnpike and Coalfield Roads will be allowed.
