Colonial Heights, VA—After a car plowed into a home's garage Saturday, police say alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
Around 1:00 p.m. on March 9, the driver of a black sedan crashed into the garage of a two-story brick home on Amherst Ridge Loop in Colonial Heights.
The driver, Calvin Whitaker, was the only person in the car and suffered minor injuries in the crash.
A family of eight lives in the home, and was displaced by the crash, as it rendered the home unstable. The Red Cross is assisting the family with lodging.
On Sunday, 8News learned that the house has been condemned.
Whitaker has been charged with driving under the influence, a felony charge.
