RICHMOND, VA-Richmond travelers could experience traffic congestion near the Amtrak station this week.

Amtrak said it's experiencing a much higher volume of passengers than usual, and in turn has seen a higher demand for parking at the Staples Mill location.

The company said increased travel due to local colleges' spring break holiday, along with high gas prices, may have contributed to the increased traffic.

Amtrak suggested travelers have a ride pick them up or drop them off at the station to help ease congestion.
