RICHMOND, VA—A Richmond woman who established a water stop for local runners, joggers and walkers along Grove Avenue is preparing to reopen after thieves made off with the stand earlier this month.
The Grove Avenue Water Stop was created more than two years ago, when Sheri Crowell, a runner, says she decided it would be nice to provide water to those who frequent the area.
The Grove Avenue Water Stop, which has attracted more than 800 likes on Facebook, was stolen from Crowell's front yard, she said.
Crowell said thieve took everything, making off with the table, cooler, cups and trash bin. The water cooler had been stolen twice before, but was either returned or located nearby, Crowell said. This time, she wasn't as lucky.
But thieves aren't getting her down; Crowell's already purchased a new water cooler and says she hopes to have the stand back open by Friday.
