RPD: Man Assaulted Pregnant Woman, Reached For Gun

RICHMOND, VA—A Richmond man has been charged after police say he reached for an officer's gun when the officer attempted to handcuff the man following an assault.

Jomar T. Thomas, 24, of the 3400 block of Garland Avenue faces multiple felony charges, including assault and obstruction of justice.

Police say Thomas was assaulting a pregnant woman when officers intervened and attempted to handcuff him.

Thomas resisted and tried to reach for the officer's gun, according to police.

Three officers were able to handcuff Thomas and take him into custody.
