ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Loudoun County authorities say three children were injured after they were struck by a car driven by a teenage driver in Ashburn.

The county's Sheriff's Office says the 15-year-old driver was receiving a driving lesson from a parent Thursday evening. The driver apparently mistakenly accelerated and jumped a curb onto a sidewalk where three children were playing.

A 7-year-old child was airlifted to a hospital and is being treated for life-threatening injuries. An 8-year-old child and a 10-year-old child also were taken to hospitals.

The crash is under investigation.
