RICHMOND, VA--The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is urging drivers to use caution as winter weather is making for slick road conditions in some areas.

Drivers in areas north of Richmond, including Henrico, Hanover and Goochland counties are encouraged to use caution due to slick road conditions, VDOT said.

Although pavement temperatures are above freezing, a slushy mix has accumulated in some areas causing slippery driving conditions.

Drivers can also expect slushy road conditions in areas north and northwest of I-295.

VDOT crews have been applying treatment to roads throughout the storm and are pushing slush accumulation off roads in some areas.

Drivers are strongly advised to slow down.
