Cambium PTP 45600 Delivers Secure, Rapidly Deployable Wireless Connectivity to U.S. Air Force Program of Record
ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., March 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Cambium Networks™, a leading provider of IP wireless broadband access and transport solutions, today announced that the U.S. Air Force has selected Cambium's point-to-point (PTP) 45600 High Capacity Line-of-Sight (HCLOS) radio for its Theater Deployable Communications (TDC PMO) program of record. Supported by General Dynamics, TDC PMO will replace its legacy Radio Frequency Module (RFM) backhaul radio with Cambium's theater-proven, agency-vetted PTP 45600 HCLOS radio to provide reliable and secure voice, video and data functions for both deployable warfighters and first response missions anywhere in the world.
The TDC PMO is an essential communications network that enables Air Force units to transmit information rapidly and securely via wireless, satellite or wireline systems. A central goal of the TDC program is to provide the latest Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) technologies in cases that can be rapidly deployed anywhere in the world and tailored to meet specific military contingencies while reducing airlift and manpower requirements. Selected, vetted and tested as part of USAF Electronic Service Center's (ESC) Innovative Challenge, the PTP 45600 further elevates the range and throughput performance for TDC PMO terrestrial communications. The PTP 45600 is the only commercially available broadband wireless Fixed Network Element (F-NE) solution certified on the U.S. Department of Defense DISA UC-APL (i.e. JITC approved) and is considered the primary wireless transport solution for many theater-deployed situational awareness programs.
"Cambium's PTP 45600 is well established in DoD circles, having provided reliable communications for many situation-aware networks that protect the warfighter in theater," said Dan Ayer, vice president, General Dynamics Information Technology. "The TDC PMO would only accept as its next RFK radio a device that was proven to be rugged and capable in the most extreme conditions."
The PTP 45600 is designed to support the most stringent requirements possible and provides high connectivity and backhaul even in the most challenging high-interference and non-line-of-sight environments. As a formal program of record, TDC PMO required agency accreditations. The PTP 45600 is the only wireless backhaul that is UC-APL (JITC) certified and also met TDC PMO's requirement for J/F-12 certification and IPv6 support.
"Air Force's TDC PMO is an essential communications program that validates our investment to deliver radios that are ideal for national defense and law enforcement," said Rob Miller, director of federal markets, Cambium Networks. "We look forward to continuing our collaboration with General Dynamics to deliver a communication solution that meets the Air Force's demanding requirements for a mission-critical deployment."
