Posted: Updated:

Chesterfield, VA—A baby boy who was allegedly shaken and injured by his babysitter is now out of the hospital and doing well on the road to recovery, say police.

25-year-old Ashley Pigg faces malicious wounding and felony child abuse charges, and is now of out jail on $10,000 bond.

Pigg admitted to police after the January incident that she had become frustrated with the baby's crying, picked him up from his swing and shook him.

The child suffered bleeding in his brain and an eye hemorrhage. Police say the baby is recovering well, but any long-term damage may not be evident for some time.

Pigg is forbidden to be around children under 12, including her own infant.
