A homicide investigation is under way after a body was found inside a burning car in York County early Friday morning.

A York County deputy discovered the burning vehicle along an exit off of Interstate 64 near Williamsburg at about 12:15 a.m. Friday.

After firefighters extinguished the blaze, the body of a man was discovered inside the vehicle. A cause of death has not been determined, but authorities are treating the case as a homicide.

Exit 243B off of Interstate 64 remains closed due to the investigation.
