RICHMOND, VA—A major utility project that would have left some homes and business without water in Richmond this weekend has been canceled due to the weather forecast.

The project, originally slated to begin this weekend, will allow crews to replace old water valves along Broad Street.

The replacement of 12 water valves along West Broad from Boulevard west to I-195 will be postponed until Sunday, April 7, beginning at 3 p.m. The work originally scheduled for April 7 will now be postponed until April 14.

The areas impacted by the April 7 work include West Broad Street's intersections with Mactavish Avenue, Highpoint Avenue, Summit Avenue, Altamont Avenue and North Sheppard Street, from West Broad Street to Marshall Street.

The areas impacted by the April 14 work include the 200 to 500 blocks of West Broad Street, the 3500 and 3600 block of Broad Street and one block of Henry Street from Broad to Marshall Street.
