RICHMOND, VA— Richmond Police continue to search for the driver who fled the scene after striking and seriously injuring a 9-year-old girl as she crossed the street Friday afternoon.
The girl suffered serious injuries and was rushed to VCU Medical Center, according to the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) Police.
It happened around 4 p.m. Friday as the girl was crossing the street at a four-way stop in the 300 block of West Charity Street near Hickory Street.
The vehicle is described as a gray-tan colored, older model Chevey Malibu with one occupant. The vehicle was last seen traveling northbound on Chamberlayne Avenue.
RRHA Police and Richmond Police are handling the investigation.
