CHESTERFIELD, VA—A six-week-old baby has died after Chesterfield County Police say the boy's father shook him in earlier in March.
Bradley W. Simmons, 22, of the 15200 block of Timsberry Circle, is being held without bond on a felony child abuse charge.
Police say they will take a closer look at the injuries the child suffered before determining whether additional charges could be filed.
Chesterfield County Police say the child's mother and father took the newborn to a fire department Wednesday, March 13. The child was then taken to VCU Medical Center with serious injuries; the child later died, police confirmed Sunday.
If convicted, Simmons faces up to 20 years behind bars.
