RICHMOND, VA—Richmond Police are searching for a teenager who allegedly assaulted a bicyclist at a popular park.
It happened at Forest Hill Park near Reedy Creek on Friday afternoon.
According to witnesses, the bicyclist approached a group of teenagers who were blocking the trail and asked to pass.
The teenagers said yes and moved over, but as the cyclist drove by, one of the teens allegedly threw a punch and hit the bicyclist.
Runners and bikes near Forest Hill Park say they're surprised by the report.
"You know with the amount of people that come down here, they seem to feel pretty safe," said Jeremy Sherwood who walks in the park.
The cyclist called Police for help, but when officers arrived the teens were gone.
"It's usually pretty calm; I see a lot of college students— a lot of teenagers, but I mean I don't really see a lot of people causing problems," said Courtney Binder who runs in the park.
Now those who exercise in the park say they're talking extra precautions.
"[I'm] A little worried but I can always bring the dog or bring a friend," said Binder.
