DINWIDDIE, VA—A vigil honoring a Virginia State Police officer killed in the line of duty will be held April 4.
Master Trooper Junius A. Walker, a 40-year veteran of the Virginia State Police, died from multiple gunshot wounds after being shot while inside his patrol car.
Russell E. Brown, 28, of Chesterfield County faces capital murder charges after authorities say he gunned down Walker in Dinwiddie County on March 7.
An estimated crowd of 3,000 attended memorial services for the trooper in March.
The vigil will be held at April 4 at 7 p.m. at the Dinwiddie Court House, located 14008 Boydton Plank Road.
A benefit in memory of Walker will be held Tuesday, April 2 at the Chick-fil-A, located a 10176 Brook Road in Glen Allen. The restaurant will donate 10% of all sales from 5-8 p.m. to the Virginia State Police Association in memory of Trooper Walker.
