ACCOMACK COUNTY, VA—An Eastern Shore woman has been arrested and charge with arson following a Monday night fire in Melfa, the latest arson following a spree of more than 70 fires.
Tonya S. Bundick, 40, of Parksley, was arrested and been charged with one count of arson and conspiracy to commit arson.
The fire was set at a vacant home on Airport Drive in Melfa, according to Virginia State Police. The home suffered minimal damage, according to police.
Bundick was arrested during a traffic stop just after 12:00 a.m. Tuesday.
More than 70 fires have been set in abandoned building since November 2012. The investigation has cost state police more than $125,000.
8News affiliate WVEC reports two people were questioned early Tuesday morning, but said the two were not being named as suspects in the string of arsons.
Bundick is being held without bond at the Accomack County Jail.
The Virginia State Police and Accomack County Sheriff's Office are expected to release new information regarding the ongoing investigation in the Accomack County arson spree Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
