RICHMOND, VA—Richmond Police have arrested a man they say beat and robbed an ice cream vendor at the Broad Rock Sports Complex on Tuesday night.

It happened around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at the sports park, located in the 4800 block of Old Warwick Road near Broad Rock Boulevard in South Richmond.

The victim told police he was selling ice cream when he was approached by a man who punched him in the face and then stole money from his pockets.

A witness to the attack called police and was able to provide authorities with a description of the suspect.

Other bystanders allegedly took the vendor's ice cream as he was on the ground, according to police.

The victim was not seriously injured in the attack.

An 18-year-old man, whose name has not yet been released, has been charged with petty larceny.

The incident remains under investigation, and police continue to search for additional suspects.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.
