MIDLOTHIAN, VA—Chesterfield County Police and SWAT have taken a man into custody after he barricaded himself inside a home for several hours following a domestic incident late Thursday night.

The subject, whose identity has not been released, was taken into police custody just after 1 p.m. No officers were injured during the standoff.

Police blocked off access to a neighborhood road in the Midlothian area. Taplow Road, which is in a neighborhood off of Genito Road near Hull Street Road, has been blocked off by police units since early Friday morning.

Police officials on scene said units responded late Thursday night to a "domestic situation" at a residence. That is when a male subject refused to come out of the residence.

Police said the man was armed with a handgun, and they were concerned he may try to harm himself.

Police confirmed the subject did not have any hostages.
