Driver Sought In Richmond Pursuit, Crash Into Henrico Home
HENRICO, Va - A police pursuit in Richmond early Sunday morning has been linked to a Henrico accident wherein a car crashed into an occupied home. The driver in both incidents is wanted on several charges.
The first incident began when officers tried to pull over a blue Ford Mustang at 5:43 a.m. in the 2700 block of West Broad Street for reckless driving. The car initially stopped, but sped off when an officer approached it on foot.
A pursuit then ensued, but ended when Richmond Police made the decision to terminate it.
Later that morning in Henrico a car was traveling at an unknown rate of speed down Basie Road and crashed into a occupied home near the cross street of Bethlehem Road. The driver jumped out of the vehicle and escaped on foot.
Police from both jurisdictions believe it is the same car from the earlier pursuit in Richmond. The driver has been identified as 27-year-old Uanas R. Elmawri, whose last known address is in the 3400 block of Danrett Lane in Richmond.
Elmawri is wanted on charges of reckless driving, felony eluding police and hit and run.
