Dinwiddie, VA—Virginia State Police are investigating a bomb threat that prompted the terminal at the Dinwiddie County Airport to close Sunday afternoon.
No suspicious device was located.
It happened just after 3:30 p.m. Sunday; police responded to the airport after the Dinwiddie County Sheriff's Office received a call from an airport employee who had encountered a man on the airport grounds.
The man stated that there was a bomb inside the Dinwiddie County Airport terminal. The man, described as a Hispanic male with dark hair, was last seen heading north on Route 460 on a moped.
No one was evacuated from the airport. Both the airport and runways remained open, but the terminal was closed as bomb technicians and canine units searched the grounds.
The FAA and the Department of Homeland Security were contacted about the incident.
The suspect stands about 5'4" to 5'6" tall, and was last seen wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans. He was also wearing a backpack.
Virginia State Police as well as the Dinwiddie County Sheriff's Office continue to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call 804-553-3445.
