Richmond Students Avoid Jail Time In Bus Driver Attack

Posted: Updated:

RICHMOND, VA—Five Richmond middle school students won't face jail time for assaulting a school bus driver last November.

Three boys and two girls were convicted of misdemeanor assault and battery in Richmond Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court on Wednesday, according to the assistant commonwealth's attorney.

Assault charges against the Albert Hill Middle School students were reduced from felonies, to misdemeanors. Charges against a sixth student were dropped all together.

The five students convicted have been placed on probation and will have a review in a year.

Former bus driver Gregory A. Davis was attacked in November. He is suing the Richmond school system, claiming he was wrongfully terminated following the attack. He's seeking reinstatement.
