Lancaster Man Wins $1 Million Virginia Lottery Prize

Posted: Updated:

Lancaster County, VA—A White Stone man who describes himself as a "sometimes" lottery player hit it big in a Virginia Lottery game, winning the $1 million top prize.

William Rowe of Lancaster County bought the winning "20X the Money" Virginia Lottery ticket at the Buoy Food & Deli at 500 Rappahannock Drive. His family and friends did not believe that he had won, initially.

"No one believed me at first," he told Virginia Lottery officials. "Not even my mom."

Rowe chose the cash option for his prize, taking home $766,500 before taxes. Buoy Food & Deli will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling him the winning ticket.

A bartender by trade, Rowe says he hopes to invest his winnings, and wants to buy a new car.
