Posted: Updated:

RICHMOND, VA—The two people found dead inside a Richmond home following a Saturday standoff with police died during a murder-suicide, the State Medical Examiners Office said.

Christina Mae Squire, 33, and Clarence Friend Taylor II, 38, were found dead inside a home in the 3900 block of Rusk Avenue following a police standoff that left two officers wounded Saturday.

Police believe Taylor shot and killed Squire before turning the gun on himself, an assertion the State Medical Examiners Office confirms.

Before killing himself, police say Taylor exchanged gunfire with officers who entered the residence during a welfare check.

The wounded officers suffered non life-threatening gunshot wounds during the incident are expected to make full recoveries. Both officers were treated and have been released by VCU Medical Center.
