Men Arrested In String Of Chesterfield Robberies

Chesterfield, VA—Two men have been arrested in a string of recent convenience store robberies spanning several days in April.

The Exxon store at 701 Bermuda Hundred Road was robbed at about 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 22. Minutes later, officers stopped a vehicle matching the description of the getaway truck in the robbery in the area of the Interstate 95 and Chippenham Parkway interchange.

The men inside the truck, 21-year-old Randall S. Denny of Richmond and 26-year-old Sammy W. Staples of Chester, were arrested and charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit a felony in relation to Monday's robbery.

The pair have also been charged in the following incidents:

  • The robbery of the CITGO at 2730 E. Hundred Road on April 15;
  • The robbery of the CITGO at 8701 Iron Bridge Road on April 19;
  • A larceny of cash from the Jefferson Express at 16638 Jefferson Davis Highway on April 21.

Denny and Staples are being held without bond at the Chesterfield County Jail.
