RICHMOND, VA—Memorial Day is less than a month away, and if you're planning to get out of town, now's the time to book your flight.

The online travel agency Travelocity lists the average price for Memorial Day weekend flights at around $300. For $272, you can fly from Richmond to Orlando. A trip to New York City, the top destination on Memorial Day, will cost you $343.
While prices are low now, they're expected to increase as the holiday weekend approaches.
On Travelocity, the average price for a round trip domestic flight from May 23-May 28th was $341, a two percent dip from the holiday last year.
Travelocity's senior editor says the price change is due to a decrease in demand for airlines, causing companies to slash prices to keep planes full.
