RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A memorial stone engraved with the names of deceased police dogs in the Richmond area is set for unveiling.

The Richmond Police Department says the stone, which stands about four feet tall and weighs 2,700 pounds, will be installed Wednesday morning at the department's K-9 facility.

David Booth is the owner of Booth Memorial. When he heard about the death of Richmond Police K-9 Koda last July, he wanted to do something to honor not only Koda but other K-9s in the Richmond area. So he contacted the department and arranged to create the monument honoring all known deceased K-9s since 1957 for the Richmond, Henrico and Hanover training area.

Booth says it's important to remember these dogs for their service and dedication.
