Petersburg Woman Says Police Raided Wrong Home

Posted: Updated:

PETERSBURG, VA-A pregnant woman in Petersburg says police officers terrorized her when they kicked in her front door, saying officers raided the wrong home.

Christina Russo, who is seven months pregnant, says she no longer feels safe in her own home.

"I was vulnerable; I wasn't in the right state of mind," said Christina Russo. "I was cooperating with everything, because I was here alone."

Russo says police handcuffed her, ransacked her apartment and did not find a thing.

"I kept asking questions, and they wouldn't tell me anything," Russo said.

Russo says the officers finally admitted to raiding the wrong home, and left after the search.

"If you're under a criminal investigation, why didn't you have your homework," Russo said.

A search warrant from Petersburg Circuit Court shows police officers had been looking for documents, pawn tickets and electronic devices. It also shows police officers did not find anything.

8News contacted Petersburg Police, but they have not returned our requests for comment.

The leasing manager at the apartment complex tells 8News the police department is paying for damages done to the door.

Russo says she plans to file a complaint against the department
