VCU Student Claims $1M Lottery Prize

Posted: Updated:

RICHMOND, VA—The fourth winner of Virginia's New Year's Millionaire raffle drawing came forward Friday.

Corden Bohannon, 24, bought the winning ticket at the WaWa gas station in Midlothian. Bohannon says he bought the ticket on his way to see a movie.

Four Virginia Lottery players become millionaires in January, but Bohannon didn't collect his winnings until Friday, saying he wanted to wait for his semester at VCU to come to an end.

"I figure I've got a lot of years ahead of me," said Corden Bohannon of how he plans to spend his winnings. "I'll mostly invest in my future and just hold onto it—use a little bit at a time."

Bohannon did say he plans to buy his mom a nice Mother's Day gift.
