MIDLOTHIAN, VA—Three Manchester High School students who lost their lives too soon will be honored next week.

Lauren Tuck, Avery Spence and Gage Edwards all died in separate accidents between 2010 and 2011.

A 2012 blood drive held in their memory had so much community support that the student's mothers decided to hold a second drive.

"In a way, we are first responders—we don't run away from the pain, we run towards it, because we know hearts broken open can change the world," said Laurie Edwards, who lost her son Gage.

The mothers say the blood drive helped their families grieve.

"The blood drive has been wonderful for all of our families, because we've lost our children and we want to be able to give others back in a way that is a small token," said Mary Tuck, mother of Lauren Tuck.

"It's a great honor for these kids, and hopefully change another child's life," said Carolyn Spence, mother of Avery Spence.

The blood drive will be held from noon until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 14.

The event will be held at Kids R Kids Learning Center, located at 6761 Temie Lee Parkway in Midlothian. Donors with appointment and walk-ins are welcome.
