Chesterfield, VA—A toy helicopter set off the sprinkler system in Cosby High School on Thursday, causing flooding and interrupting a class.
School officials say a remote-controlled toy helicopter flown by a student hit a sprinkler head at about 9:30 a.m., causing the system to be activated. This resulted in flooding in the classroom; some students' personal belongings were damaged.
Students were moved into another classroom, and the classroom was cleaned during lunch break. The school was not closed early in spite of the incident.
A cost estimate of the damage is not available at this time, according to Chesterfield County Schools spokesperson Shawn Smith.
SOL and AP testing is underway all week at the school.
