Newport News, VA—A Master Police Officer with the Newport News Police Department has been arrested and charged, after he reportedly exposed himself on the front porch of a residence last month.
On Sunday, April 7, police responded to reports of a man exposing himself at a home in the 700 block of Harpersville Road. Witnesses told police that the man was standing on the front porch of the home totally naked.
As an officer approached the home, he observed a naked man shut the front door. The man was identified as Newport News Master Police Officer Christopher Roush, 41. Roush has been with the Newport News Police Department for nine years, assigned to the South Precinct. He is currently on unpaid administrative leave.
After officers notified the Department's Special Victim's Unit, warrants were obtained for Roush's arrest. He was charged with two counts of indecent exposure and one count of obscene sexual display. . He was released on his signature pending an arraignment in General District Criminal Court on April 24, 2013.
As a result of the continuing investigation of this case, on Friday, May 17, 2013, additional evidence was presented to the Newport News Grand Jury. Roush was additionally charged with one count of felony indecent liberties with a child under the age of fifteen, five counts of misdemeanor obscene sexual display and seven counts of misdemeanor indecent exposure.
Roush was arrested on May 18, and released on an $11,000 bond by a magistrate.
