Shooting Put Nearby Richmond Elem. School On Lockdown
Richmond, VA—After a shooting on Wednesday afternoon, a nearby elementary school was put on lockdown and officers remained at the school until dismissal.
Richmond Police confirm that a shooting occurred in the 4100 block of Kinsley Avenue in Richmond at about 1:00 p.m. on May 22. E.S.H. Greene Elementary is in the same vicinity.
One person was shot, and suffered non life-threatening injuries. There were no other injuries.
Police say the recommended that the school enter a heightened state of security after the incident. Richmond Public Schools officials confirm that the incident prompted the school to be put on lockdown.
Officers remained at the school until regular dismissal at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday afternoon; at that time, the lockdown was lifted. School dismissed as normal, say school officials.
