UPDATE: Fatal Accident On Interstate 95: Victims Identified
RICHMOND, Va - Virginia State Police is continuing its investigation into a single vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 95 northbound at the 77 mile marker in the City of Richmond.
Shortly after 3:00 p.m. Saturday state police were called to the scene after the driver of a 2002 Acura RSX ran off the left side of the roadway and struck the jersey wall. The vehicle overturned and came to rest onto its roof.
The passenger, who was wearing her safety belt, suffered serious non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to VCU Medical Center. The driver, who was not wearing her safety belt, died at the scene.
The center and right lanes of Interstate 95 northbound were closed until 7:30 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the Virginia State Police Accident Reconstruction Team.
