LUNENBURG, VA— After around 100 dogs were found living at a Lunenburg County home last month in what an animal rescue group called a hoarding situation, nearly all of the dogs have been rescued.
The Southside SPCA tells 8News 82 dogs have been removed from the property, after around 100 dogs were found May 19.
The rescue group says the homeowner, whose name has not been released, continues to cooperate and will not be charged. The Southside SPCA will continue to make periodic visits to the home to ensure the number of animals is manageable and dogs remaining on the property will be spayed and neutered. Several local and out of state animal welfare groups are also helping to find the dogs permeate homes.
