Posted: Updated:

CHESTERFIELD, VA—A rabies clinic will be held Saturday in Chesterfield County after a fox that attacked and bit a woman on Tuesday tested positive for rabies.

Chesterfield County Animal Control says the woman was attacked and bitten several times by the fox. A neighbor helped contain the fox until Animal Control officers arrived at the home.

It happened Tuesday in the 13600 block of Quail Hollow Lane, near Old Hundred Road.

To help prevent the spread of rabies, the Chesterfield County Health Department and Chesterfield County Animal Control will hold a rabies clinic Saturday, June 22.

The event runs from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and will be held at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds, located at 10300 Courthouse Road.

Rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats will be available for a fee of $8 per animal.

Animal Control is urging residents to report wildlife, such as foxes, raccoons and possums, found lingering around homes during daylight hours or that appear to be acting in an aggressive, sick or injured manor.

Residents are asked to report animals to Animal Control at (804) 748-1251.
