Chesterfield Police: Man Who Fled Traffic Stop Found Dead
A subject who fled a Chesterfield Police traffic checkpoint early Wednesday morning has been found dead in Falling Creek Reservoir.
According to police, a car attempted to evade a traffic checkpoint on Route 10 and Burnt Oak Drive by turning into the Ivy Walk apartment complex. Officers followed and found an unoccupied car, but heard screams for help nearby.
Police officials said two suspects tried to escape the officers by going across the Falling Creek Reservoir. One subject became stuck and was rescued by emergency crews.
The second suspect, a 58-year-old man, was found dead in the water late Wednesday morning. His identity has not been released.
Police identified the rescued suspect as 48-year-old Norman Wills. He is charged with fleeing from law enforcement and possession of a controlled substance.
