Body Identified That Was Recovered From Appomattox River

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Police Department, Chesterfield County Fire Department and Petersburg Fire Department responded to the 21500 block of Chesterfield Avenue at 1:16 p.m. Saturday for a man that went missing. He had been wading in the Appomattox River according to witnesses.

Chesterfield County Fire Department dive team recovered the body of Brian D. Ziegelbauer, 36, of Petersburg. Police continue their investigation.

 

 


 

CHESTERFIELD, Va - We are getting word that a body has been recovered from the Appomattox River.

Crews are on scene by the Campbell Bridge area near the Appomattox River. Witnesses are now saying that the swimmer was taken under by a strong current and was not seen resurfacing.

Officials are calling it an open investigation and are questioning witnesses at this time.
