GOOCHLAND, VA—A Chesterfield County man who police say threatened to "start shooting people" at a Cub Scout camp in Goochland County is set to appear in court Monday.
Gregory James Stapleton, 34, of Chesterfield, was arrested and charged with one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct and one misdemeanor count of curse and abuse.
The alleged incident took place last Thursday at Cub Scout Camp at the Heart of Virginia Scout Reservation on Maidens Road in Goochland.
Witnesses told authorities Stapleton made the remarks after becoming upset. Deputies did not find any firearms in Stapleton's possession, but did confiscate several knives.
Boy Scout officials told deputies approximately 400 Cub Scouts, ranging in age from 8 to 11, were at the camp at the time of the incident. No one was hurt in the incident.
Stapleton is being held under a $3,000 bond; he is due in court Monday.
