RICHMOND, VA—Police have charged a teenager who they say stole a SUV and led officers on a pursuit that ended with a violent crash in South Richmond on Wednesday.

Five people were taken to the hospital after a stolen SUV, being pursued by police, ran a stop sign and struck a GRTC van at the intersection of Belt Boulevard and Stockton Street, police said.

The van overturned, injuring two people inside. The SUV lost control and struck the front of a home, causing significant damage.

Police say three juveniles in the SUV were injured and two people on the GRTC bus were injured. All five were taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

The 15-year-old driver has been charged with auto theft, attempting to elude police, driving without a license and hit and run with personal injury. The juveniles name has not been released.
