RICHMOND, VA—The man arrested in connection with a reported attempted abduction of a young girl as she walked to an East End area pool is set to appear in court Wednesday.
Shahriar Bakhtiarizadeh, 52, of Chesterfield County, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor stalking in connection with the case.
The charge stems from a July 16 incident. The alleged victim, a 10-year-old girl, was walking with her younger brother to the Powhatan Community Pool, when she says a man in a van approached her and attempted to persuade her to enter his vehicle.
"She said he kept pulling to the curb and pulling away, pulling to the curb and talking to her. And she stopped to fix her sandal, and he pulled to the curb and parked," the girl's mother Stacey Winters told 8News.
Police say the man made several attempts to persuade the girl to enter his vehicle, but at no time did he leave his vehicle or make contact with the girl.
