HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) - Harrisonburg police say a lightning strike sent three people to the hospital.
Police tell WHSV-TV that the victims were in a tree that was hit by lightning Sunday afternoon. The lightning hit one person, and the aftershock injured the others.
The victims were taken to Rockingham Memorial Hospital. Their conditions weren't known.
Harrisonburg Fire Department battalion chief Brett Hartt says people being struck by lightning is unusual, but it does happen.
He advises people to seek shelter indoors or in a vehicle during storms.
