DANVILLE, Va. (AP) - Police say a toddler is in stable condition after being accidentally shot by a 6-year-old child at a residence in Danville.
Danville police tell media outlets that the 22-month-old girl was shot in the back on Sunday.
Police say the 6-year-old found the gun in the residence and accidentally fired it. The bullet went through a bedroom wall and hit the toddler, who was playing in another room.
Police say a man who lives at the residence owns the gun.
Four adults and two other children, ages 3 and 6, were in the residence when the shooting occurred.
The investigation is continuing.
