Virginia Beach Father Sentenced in Toddler's Death
Marcus Dewayne Brantley
VIRGINIA BEACH - A Virginia Beach man was sentenced to 32 years in prison for the 2012 death of his 14-month-old daughter.
Marcus Dewayne Brantley pleaded guilty in April to second-degree murder and child endangerment and was sentenced to serve 45 years on Monday. The court suspended 13, leaving 32 years to serve.
Brantley's daughter, Melanie, died on August 17, 2012. Brantley reported that the toddler had fallen and hit her head, but doctors concluded her injuries were consistent with abusive head trauma and shaking.
