Man Critically Injured After Electric Shock In Henrico County

HENRICO, VA—A man is in critical condition after being shocked by a power line while trimming trees Monday afternoon in Henrico County.

Henrico County division of Fire responded to a report of an electrocution around 6:45 p.m. Monday at the corner of E. Washington Street and N. Kalmia Avenue.

Police say the victim, a 30-year-old male, was in a lift bucket trimming a tree when he came in contact with a power line and was shocked.

The victim was taken to VCU Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.

Witnesses stated the victim came in contact with the line two times before falling out of the bucket. Dominion Virginia Power reports the line carries about 19,000 volts.

The victim was caught by his safety harness and was then assisted to the ground before the fire crews arrived.

Around 300 customers were without power for about 30 minutes while Dominion Virginia Power checked the lines for damage.
