LOUISA - Congressman Eric Cantor, along with members of the Louisa School Board, visited with students while on a tour of Trevillians Elementary School and Thomas Jefferson Elementary School.
"Here on almost the two year anniversary - what I've seen is just an incredible testament to the result of the people of Louisa," Cantor says.
Thomas Jefferson Elementary was destroyed back in august of 2011, and since then, while their school is being rebuilt a few miles away, the students have attended classes in modular units on Trevilians' campus.
"I'm thinking this is school as normal," says Louisa Schools Superintendent Dr. Deborah Petit. "And then I kind of look around and we're still in two mobile schools - temporary facilities."
Trevillians Elementary wasn't as badly damaged as Thomas Jefferson but there was still a lot of work that needed to be done.
Petit says they hope by this time next year, the new building will be open and ready to go for the new school year.
