Girl, 4, Injured In Accidental Shooting; Man Charged

RICHMOND, VA – A Richmond man has been charged with a felony after a four-year-old girl was injured in an accidental shooting late Saturday night.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. at a home in the 1300 block of Coalter Street, near Littlepage Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the four-year-old victim had been shot. The young girl was taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Demond A. Brown, 27, of Richmond, has been charged with one felony count of discharging a firearm within a building or dwelling.

Detectives said the shooting appeared to be accidental. It's unclear if Brown knew the victim.
