Posted: Updated:

Two Stafford County sheriff's deputies were shot and injured in a shootout after a 14-hour standoff in Spotsylvania County.

The suspect, Michael Antosh, was also shot and injured and is listed in critical condition. The deputies are listed in stable condition.

The incident began as Spotsylvania deputies attempted to serve an emergency commitment order on Antosh at his home in the 10300 block of Gordon Road just after noon Saturday. Authorities said Antosh barricaded himself inside the residence and threatened deputies with a large-caliber firearm.

Law enforcement crews from Spotsylvania, Stafford and Fredericksburg all responded to the scene. At 2:30 a.m. Sunday, officials said Antosh began firing at deputies from inside and outside the home. Officers returned fire. During the exchange, two Stafford County deputies were wounded, and Antosh was struck multiple times.

The injured deputies names have not been released.

Spotsylvania authorities are investigating the incident.
