Ex-teacher In Virginia Gets 8 Years In Plot To Kill Ex
ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (AP) - A former kindergarten teacher in Franklin County has been sentenced to eight years in prison for the attempted hired killing of her ex-husband.
Media reports say Angela Robin Nolen was sentenced Friday in Franklin County Circuit Court to a charge of soliciting murder.
The 47-year-old teacher and a co-worker approached an undercover state police sergeant and agreed to pay him $8,000 to kill Paul Strickler, a retired school administrator.
The co-worker, Cathy Warren Bennett, pleaded guilty last month to conspiring to solicit murder.
Circuit Judge William Alexander added a condition to Nolen's sentencing. He required her to serve 2,000 hours of community service, teaching people who have been incarcerated. She would not be allowed to begin performing that service until after her release from prison.
