PORTSMOUTH - A man was found guilty of cruelty to animals Tuesday after his dog was found starved to death.
According to the Portsmouth Commonwealth's Attorney's office, PETA volunteers discovered two dogs at the home of Adrian Mason in a plastic crate in February.
The crate contained a lifeless 4-year-old pit bull named Dynasty and also a male pit bull mix named Blue, who was still alive and trapped in the crate with Dynasty's remains.
The surviving dog suffered from malnutrition and was transferred to the Virginia Beach SPCA and was quickly adopted.
