Volunteers Spread Word on Affordable Care Act

Posted: Updated:

RICHMOND - Volunteers with Organizing for Action Virginia spread the word about the Affordable Care Act in Carytown.

They passed out flyers with information about the new health insurance marketplaces and how to sign up.

The enrollment period is open now until March 2014.

Volunteers say they came across a lot of people who still have questions about what Obamacare is.

"it's affordable healthcare, it's an exchange," says volunteer Jacqueline Koiner. "It's going to give you choices that you never had before, probably better than you had but mostly for people that don't have healthcare and there are millions that don't have healthcare."

Organizing for Action Virginia plans to hold more events like this in the fall and spring, saying the six month enrollment period is a crucial time to make sure uninsured Americans have the facts they need to sign up for affordable coverage.
